But, life intervenes and the training didn't happen.
It's okay though because I've decided that this is the year I'm going to "TAKE IT EASY".
I've been running steadily for 16 years now. I took 4 months off about 9 years ago for a serious injury and of course, I'll take a week here and there when I'm feeling under the weather, but it's been pretty steady.
I haven't counted, but I wouldn't be surprised if I've been in over 100 races. I used to do at least 10 races a year.
But this summer I've been throwing in walk breaks. I've been standing around waiting for my dog. I've stopped and done yoga stretches or squats. And it's been great!
I still get a good workout. I finish relaxed and happy. A nagging little injury is easing up.
I won't be breaking any speed records this fall, or winter, or spring. But this year I'm okay with it.
Happy running! And don't forget to take it easy once in awhile :)
