Run Through Time

Happy New Year!

On New Years Eve Les, Max and I ran a 5k fun run up at the University of Victoria. It's hosted every year (for the last 24, I believe) by the Runners of Compassion.

It's lots of fun 'cause everyone is in high spirits, it's dark and cold, and there are only about 80 runners. The door prizes are great, too!

Les and I are both freshly recovered from lung infections and this was only our second run after a 3-4 week break so of course we decided to take it easy.

I ran with Max (we only had to stop for one pee break ~ yay, Max!) and Les ran with ... Les, I guess. I actually don't know -- ha ha!

So with the doggie pee break plus a frustrating 3 minutes trying to get my jacket off and tied around my waist mid-run, all while still running and holding the dog leash, I managed to finish in 27:11.  I was pretty happy with that time 'cause I took it easy all the way around, successfully curbing my normal impulse to try and pass every moving body within sight (not that I ever do, but I usually try :)).

AND, to top it all off, Max came first in the doggie division. Whoo hoo, Max! He beat a Shih Tzu and a Golden Retriever :)

After the 6:00 pm run we came home to both our boys and their significant others and our new grandson, to find that Andy and Andrea had cooked dinner for everyone! After dinner we sat around the fireplace and drank champagne.

The perfect ending to a beautiful year. Here's to another fabulous 365 days!!!
